Our armored elements are certified to be used, among other things, in ATEX zones or in the railway sector.

Intended for heating and maintaining the temperature of liquids, gases or solids, tubular heaters are present in many industrial applications.

Acim Jouanin designs and manufactures shielded resistors, straight or formed according to your specifications, by adapting the material of the shielding to the environment and the temperature of use.

Our armored elements are certified to be used, among other things, in the railway sector or in an ATEX zone.

The shielded elements are composed of a coiled resistive wire, perfectly centered in a cylindrical metal sheath (or shielding), filled with a high purity electrical insulator (compacted magnesia).

The resistor then undergoes lamination which guarantees very good heat exchange and excellent mechanical and dielectric strength, up to 800°C. The elements are powered by terminals or cables.

Straight or Formed Tubular Heaters

Technical characteristics

Manufactured exclusively to measure , the shielded elements allow the heating of various applications such as coils intended for air heating, infrared ramps for raclette machines or in the ribs of a mold for conduction heating.

  • Outer tube (shielding) available in different diameters and materials ( steel , stainless steel , incoloy ).
  • Heating wire electrically insulated by highly compressed magnesium oxide.
  • Sealing of the element shielded by silicone or resin, depending on the temperature of use, then protected by a ceramic bead.
  • Connection by cables (waterproof or high temperature connectors) or terminals (threaded, flat, faston, etc.).

Atex fabrications

We also offer ATEX tubular heaters.
We are IECEX certified by INERIS, for heating in gas zones 1 and 2, gas groups IIA to IIC and temperature classes T6 (85°C) to T1 (450°C).

Product range

The tubular elements are made to measure , according to your specifications. Below is a summary of the main technical data: This list is not exhaustive, do not hesitate to consult us.

    • Armored metal tubes with a diameter of 6.5 to 16 mm
    • Armored tube material: 304, 309, 316L, 321 stainless steel , incoloy 800 , incoloy 825 , titanium .
    • Heating wire electrically insulated by highly compressed magnesium oxide.
    • Sealing of connectors by silicone, resin, etc. depending on the temperature of use, then protected by a ceramic bead.
    • Connection by cables (waterproof connectors or high temperature resistors) or terminals (threaded, flat, faston, etc.)
    • Dimensional: Length of armored elements up to 6 meters, depending on the diameter of the tube and the material used.

Supply of straight or shaped elements according to your specifications: single or multiple pins , trombone , circular , coiled … with specific non-heating zones.

The shielded elements can be equipped with accessories or special finishes: fitting of crimped or brazed threaded sleeves, surface treatment pickling passivation, fitting of flanges, etc.

Regulatory characteristics

Manufacture according to standard EN 60335-1 :

  • Wattage tolerance: + 5% -10%
  • Leakage current< 0.75 mA / kW

Technical characteristics

Since 1965, Acim Jouanin has been the partner of many players in the railway sector.

Our electric heating elements allow frost protection and heating of infrastructures to ensure the safety of rail systems, switches, electrical cabinets, etc.

We also design and manufacture industrial resistors for rolling stock (TGV, LGV, TER, metros and trams) as well as heating equipment for maintenance workshops.

Our products allow heating under particularly demanding conditions of use : need for sealing of the connections, resistance to vibrations, exposure to extreme conditions (high heat in summer, negative temperature in winter)

Product range

Freezing of switches is essential for the reliability of rail transport. Here are some examples of resistances that we have developed for the smooth running of track maneuvers:

  • Rail heater by linear resistors
  • VCC heating (needle lock device)
  • Mobile peak heating

We also manufacture resistors for heating of rolling stock :

  • Heating for track sandblasting nozzles
  • Heating of driving cabs and trainsets
  • Hand dryer systems in the sanitary facilities on board.

Our finned resistors protect electrical cabinets subjected to bad weather and low temperatures, in order to avoid any appearance of condensation.
