How to heat
in an ATEX environment?

Heating in an ATEX environment requires the use of electrical heaters specifically adapted to the dangerousness of the explosive atmosphere characterized by:

  • the area (zone) in which the heating device is installed
  • the type of fuel (gas and/or dust) present
  • the temperature class (T6 to T1)

Heating elements for ATEX zone

We are certified to define, design and provide you with solutions for heating liquids, solids or air, suitable for any type of explosive atmosphere. Our heaters are intended for surface industries and are of device category 2 , for gas and/or dust fuels ( Ex II 2 G or D )

Our products comply with the ATEX 2014/34/EU standards and the IECEx EN ISO/CEI 80079-34 international standard. Our INERIS 06ATEXQ703 product quality assurance notification recognizes the conformity of the manufacturing of our products according to the ATEX directive 2014/34/EU. This certification is confirmed annually by an audit carried out by a certified organization of our manufacturing unit.

Present on the ATEX market since 2006 , Acim Jouanin has voluntarily undertaken the process of certifying its products to IECEX since 2014 .

What is an ATEX atmosphere ?

An explosive atmosphere ( ATEX ) is a mixture with air under atmospheric conditions, of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapors or dust in which, after ignition, combustion spreads to the whole of the unburned mixture. ( Directive 2014/34/EU )

The illustrations mentioned are given as examples and only reflect some of the solutions that Acim Jouanin is able to offer.

Intended for heating fluids in explosive environments, our ATEX and IECEX screw-in immersion heaters are qualified to work in gas zones 1 and 2 and dust zones 21 and 22, for temperature classes T6 (85°C) to T1 (450°C) .

Our entire range of ATEX products is equipped with a type “d” electrical connection box (flameproof enclosure)

For high power ratings or special mounting requirements, explosion-proof immersion heaters can be mounted via a flange.

Our models equipped with a DN 80 to DN100 standardized flange, registered under the CE type examination certificate number INERIS 06ATEX0046X and recognized IECEX INE 14.0054X are intended for gas and dust heating.

Immersion heaters fitted with a DN100 to DN300 flange and certified Ex II 2 G – Ex db IIC T6 to T1 Gb are used in zone 1 (gas) and zone 2 (gas) .

They can also be mounted on a non-certified circulation unit.

Particularly suitable for the storage of hazardous materials, Acim Jouanin has designed a range of robust ATEX convectors, available from stock , to heat your premises in an explosive atmosphere in complete safety.

Certified Ex II 2 GD – Ex db IIC T3 – Ex tb IIIC T200°C Db , they can be used in gas zones as well as in dust zones, in an atmosphere between -20°C and +40°C.

ATEX air duct heaters

Custom made, our ATEX air duct heaters are intended for the heating of air or gas in circulation, in an explosive gas zone.

They are specifically sized to meet your needs, depending on the fluid heated, the circulation flow, the initial and final temperatures, etc. II 2 G – Ex db IIC T6 to T1 Gb certified, they are equipped with integrated double thermal safety.

They are designed for use in environments between -20°C and +60°C.

For heating metal drums in an ATEX environment, Acim Jouanin offers heating bases operating in the gas (1 and 2) and dust (21 and 22) zones . Custom made, they can be used to heat barrels with a minimum diameter of 200 mm, class T6 (85°C) to T1 (450°C), in an atmosphere between -20 and + 60°C.

We also offer ATEX and IECEX cast heaters , flat shape, cylindrical shape, etc., custom made.
These IECEX INE 14.0051X certified heaters are intended for use in gas zones 1 and 2, as well as in dust zones 21 and 22, for temperature classes T6 (85°C) to T1 (450°C).
